From our latest version, Sybiz Visipay 24.00, Child Support deductions and garnishees for individual employees can be processed where required by Services Australia through Single Touch Payroll Phase 2 (STP2) reporting.

Although Child Support was launched with STP2 in early 2022, Sybiz chose to delay on the optional functionality until some external difficulties had been resolved in its initial phases. Child Support through STP2 and Sybiz Visipay is still optional, however it can significantly reduce alternate reporting for payroll staff, saving time, effort, and error.

It is important that employers are aware that Child Support reporting is facilitated through Services Australia and that once this direction is received, that reporting is processed correctly, in totality and on time.

This is especially important because Services Australia uses STP2 data in a different way to the Australian Tax Office, comparing new pay event data to the previous pay event to analyse movement in the year-to-date balances reported. This means that any employees for which Child Support must be reported need to be included in every pay event, even if they have not been paid in that period.

Instructions on how to set up deductions and garnishees in Sybiz Visipay 24.00 are available on our website. For further technical assistance, please consult with our STP2 resources or your Sybiz Authorised Business Partner.
