The end of Exchange Web Services (EWS) on 1 October 2026 has prompted Sybiz Customers utilising Office 365 for email integration to migrate to the more modern Microsoft Graph, which acts as a gateway to data and intelligence to Microsoft cloud services such as Microsoft 365. Part of the shift to Microsoft 365 includes the introduction of a new version of Outlook, which includes a revamped and simplified design and Microsoft Copilot-assisted capabilities.
Microsoft have not yet added equivalent functionality to new Outlook and during this transitional period, certain functions available in Outlook Classic are not available in new Outlook. This includes COM add-ins extensibility, which is required for Sybiz Vision and Visipay integration with Microsoft 365. Any users who have enabled the new Outlook for Windows will find the emailing integration does not work as intended.
Currently, new Outlook for Windows is in the opt-in stage. New Outlook is off by default, and users can toggle to try the new experience from the top right corner of the Outlook window, however we strongly advise against doing so at this stage. As the new Outlook ports over features from Outlook Classic, further stages will guide users along the transition process.
For users committed to the Microsoft environment, Sybiz recommends the use of Microsoft 365 email integration. SMTP is also an acceptable connection method, and further integrations are planned in the release of Sybiz 27, scheduled for later this year.
